Math students find the total number of gifts given in the song the "Twelve Days of Christmas". They worked in groups and problem solved to find mathematical sequences. Using Excel, they created spreadsheets on the computer. After finding that there are a total of 364 gifts given, they used the internet to find the total cost of the gifts. They found the Christmas Price Index which shows the costs of the goods and services purchased by "my true love" for the last 23 years. Reading interactive graphs, they were able to make comparisons and look for increases and decreases. It was quite shocking to find that it would cost $19,507.19 to purchase all the gifts. Finally the groups substituted with present-day items that they thought were more appropriate.
