BOARD OF EDUCATION

RIVERSIDE COMMUNITY SCHOOL

A special meeting of the Riverside Board of Directors was held on June 5, 2008 at the Riverside Middle School.  President, Glen Schechinger called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Board members present were Jack Fox, Connie Haines, Richard Kates, Glen Schechinger,  Mark Beedle, and Greg Hansen.   Absent was Tom Novotny.

Glen Schechinger moved, Jack Fox seconded approval of the agenda.  Motion carried unanimously.PERSONNEL

Glen Schechinger moved, Connie Haines seconded approval to hire Gary Jorgensen as Industrial Arts teacher at Column MS15; Career Index (step 12) for 2008-09.  Motion carried unanimously.

Jack Fox moved, Mark Beedle seconded approval to hire Colleen Wilber as K-12 librarian as a four-tenths employee at a salary of $19671.20 with health insurance paid as per the early retirement agreement.  Motion carried unanimously.  Mrs. Wilber’s goal will be to automate libraries as money is available in the budget.

Mark Beedle moved, Greg Hansen seconded to allow Dave Danker to be paid for ten days of unused vacation at a per diem level.  Motion carried unanimously.

Dr. Sutton presented some background information regarding salaries and benefits provided by other schools in the Western Iowa Conference.  Greg Hansen moved, Connie Haines seconded hiring Shawn Kreman as high school principal for 2008-09 (220 days) at a salary of $71,000 with an HRA of $1,000 and single paid health insurance.  Motion carried unanimously.  Mark Beedle moved, Greg Hansen seconded approval of $1500 moving expenses for Mr. Kreman.  Motion carried unanimously.

Connie Haines moved, Dick Kates seconded acceptance of the resignation of Jennifer Scott as high school social studies teacher effective at the end of her 2007-08 contract.  Motion carried unanimously.
