Friday, May 8th, middle school student had an afternoon of fun activities to celebrate their achievements on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills. Before taking the tests in February, students wrote goals for reading, math, science and social studies. When the test results came back, students were able to see how successful they were at achieving their goals.
On Friday, students received “educational money” if they showed growth on their ITBS and for each of the goals they achieved. They were then able to use the money toward activities throughout the afternoon. We had an inflatable obstacle course and boxing ring in the gym; Wiis and a concession stand in the commons; sewing, movies and cookies in the home ec room; and the chance to just sit outside and be with friends. Students had a lot of fun and enjoyed this opportunity to celebrate their success!
