Local Businesses Hang Riverside Art

by Cindy Beattie

December 20, 2011

Riverside has been preparing to spread the wealth, so to speak, for the last couple of months. Our new art teachers have been matting and framing student artworks to share with local businesses.  The works are from all different grade levels and involve a variety of media. The only thing they really have in common is that they are all impressive. On the Wednesday prior to Thanksgiving, the superintendent hit the trail in all three of the communities asking some local business people if they would like to hang the work in their establishments, and all were happy to do so. There is no fee for the art, just simply the guarantee that they will find a prominent place for the art, and they were given a laminated announcement they could put in their window, if they wished, saying that they were proudly displaying Riverside student artwork in their establishment. A different work of art will be brought to replace the current one from time to time, giving businesses a chance to see Riverside student products and giving Riverside students an expanded forum for their works to be appreciated.

We did not have enough artworks framed for all of the businesses in the three communities, but if your business is interested in being a part of this program, please contact Tami Skank at the Riverside Middle School (712-484-2291), and we’ll promise to get you one as soon as possible.
