Culinary Students Place 3rd at IWCC Culinary Competition

Students in Ms. Fenske’s Advance Food Service class took 3rd place at the 3rd annual IWCC Family and Consumer Science Culinary Competition. Two teams consisting of a culinary team and a baking team participated in the competition which was held on March 6th on the IWCC campus.

The culinary team consisted of Derick Seaton, Denton Hendricks, and Vince Palazzo. The team had two hours to fabricate two chickens and create their dish entitled “Viva La Chicken.” They received bronze medals, a block of gourmet Blue Cheese,  and Japanese Knives for participating in the competition. A total of seven teams participated in the competition.

The baking team consisted of Andy Casson and Madison Manzer. They received the award for Best Interview. They had two hours to complete a mousse and sauce to be judged by four individuals. Their recipe consisted of a pure chocolate bowl, a strawberry mousse, mixed berry coulis, and homemade granola.
