Prejudice Elimination Workshop

by Mandie Reynolds

March 11, 2013

On November 15th, Mrs. Reynolds took a group of 5 girls from Riverside to a Prejudice Elimination Workshop put on by the ADL (Anti Defamation League).  This workshop was an educational day about bullying, what it looks like in schools, and how to help solve the problem.  Students talked about issues that currently exist in schools and debated about causes and solutions.  The students who went were Alex Danker, Aspen Blackburn, Sydney Raney, Kennedy Lucas, and Trae Kelly.  Of the workshop, Trae says, "One thing I learned from the Prejudice Elimination Workshop was that even one person can make such a big difference when it comes to being prejudice. You see so many different things that it opens your eyes in a new way. You can see when someone is and in the workshop you learn how to handle the situation."

Riverside was the only school outside of the Metro-Area or Council Bluffs Schools that was represented at the workshop.  It was a great day of learning and awareness, and the students definitely recommended that we participate again in the future!
