School safety is without a doubt the greatest issue to be successfully addressed by schools. Outstanding faculty and programs will be quickly overshadowed if students are unable to be assured of their safety. The safety at our school system is recognized as the foundation of a quality school system, and we recognize that it is a team effort that must include students, staff, parents, the board of education, and the communities at large. Our recent parent survey administered primarily during parent/teacher conferences asked several questions about school safety, and the responses were very encouraging. Here are several of the questions along with their graphed responses.
Do you think your child is safe in the classroom?

Do you think your child is safe in the halls?

Do you think your child is safe in the restrooms?

We appreciated all of the parent participation in our survey. We promise you that we reviewed them all and reflected on both the positives and negatives. However, the overall response from our parents both in the survey responses and the comments was impressively positive. We have not stopped looking at how to improve a number of areas at Riverside, but it’s encouraging when you’re told that you’re moving in the right direction. Thank you all.
