Bulldog Banner-Mission Statement

Get ready to walk, Riverside OES and CES Elementary Students and Families!

Physical activity is one of the most important things all Iowa kids can do to stay healthy – and walking is a great way to get moving while connecting with their classmates and teachers.

I’m pleased to announce that Riverside OES and CES Elementary Schools will be participating in the Healthiest State 11th Annual Walk on October 6, joining thousands of other Iowans statewide. Riverside Oakland Elementary will host a 30-minute walk with students and families at 8:30 A.M starting outdoors on the South side of the building. Riverside Carson Elementary will host a 30-minute walk with students and families at 10:30 A.M starting outdoors on the basketball court on the North side of the building. (See attached maps for the OES and CES walking routes.)

The event’s theme is “Walk More. Connect More.” encouraging participants to reconnect while they walk. Following more than a year of social distancing and disconnection, we are so excited for this opportunity. Our participation shows that we are invested in the well-being and social connectedness of our students and staff.

The Healthiest State is encouraging Iowans to participate on social media with the hashtags #WalkMoreConnectMore and #HSIWalk2021 during the Annual Walk. Learn more at IowaHealthiestState.com/Walk.

The Annual Walk also serves as a kick-off to Healthiest State Month, happening throughout October, encouraging Iowans to practice the 5-2-1-0 Healthy Choices Count! habits. Learn more: IowaHealthiestState.com/5210.

Stay tuned for more information on our walk. Together we can help Iowa become the healthiest state in the nation!
