What I love about the subject I teach:
I love the excitement and enthusiasm shown by the students I am privileged to work with. Doing PK-3 general music and K-12 gifted gives me many opportunities to share my joy of learning and see that joy reflected back.
Why I chose Riverside:
I began as a long-term substitute, so the opportunity attracted me, but the success I experienced led to my decision to stay. Riverside was a brand new district at the time and the students seemed to be craving high expectations. Teaching in an area I originally didn't go to school for prompted me to continue learning and therefore stay more excited about my work than if I had stayed in my original field. Every day is a new adventure because of the constantly changing demands of my work and I believe in the potential of our students as much now as I did in 1995.
What makes me PROUD to be a Bulldog:
Seeing students persist through adversity to achieve success always makes me proud to be a Bulldog, whether it is in the music program, the athletic program, or day to day school work. I'm also proud to be a Bulldog when we choose to focus on the good that is happening in our district instead of making excuses.
