Vaccines are an important tool to help stop the COVID-19 pandemic.

Riverside School District will host a Vaccination Point of Distribution on Thursday May 13, 2021 starting at 9:00 AM at the Riverside Middle/High School Gym (18997 Hwy 59 Oakland, IA). Anyone 16 years of age and older can receive a vaccination.  Those students between the age of 16-18 years of age will need a signed consent form from their parents. Pfizer will be the vaccination available on that day.  For more information please contact the school (712-482-6464).  Consent Forms and Pfizer Information Sheets are available and will be distributed at the school to students.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • If an underage student has the permission slip signed, are parents required to be present?  No parents will need to be present as long as the 16 and above have a signed slip they will receive a vaccination.

  • Are there any circumstances that would prevent a student from receiving the vaccine? (i.e. recent exposure, previous covid diagnosis, etc?) Anyone currently quarantining should continue to do so.  Recent vaccines (within 14 days) they will not be able to get a shot until 14 days.  People who have had COVID-19 as long as they are done with isolation they can get a shot.

CDC recommends that, with universal masking, students should maintain a distance of at least 3 feet in classroom settings:

  • In elementary schools, CDC recommends all students remain at least 3 feet apart in classrooms where mask use is universal — regardless of whether community transmission is low, moderate, substantial, or high. Use of Cohorting is acceptable as a mitigation tool.

  • In middle and high schools, CDC also recommends students should be at least 3 feet apart in classrooms where mask use is universal and in communities where transmission is low, moderate, or substantial.

CDC continues to recommend at least 6 feet of distance:

  • Between adults in the school building and between adults and students.

  • In common areas, such as school lobbies and auditoriums.

  • When masks can’t be worn, such as when eating.

  • During activities when increased exhalation occurs, such as singing, shouting, band practice, sports, or exercise. These activities should be moved outdoors or to large, well-ventilated spaces whenever possible.

  • In community settings outside of the classroom.
