Together We Can Banner

Riverside will work to notify the community but must protect the confidentiality of their students and staff.  Each week the district will provide a Community Update.

A Riverside student who attended Prom on Saturday April 17, 2021 did test positive for COVID-19. Students  identified as a close contact were quarantined. Many of those students will return to school by the end of this week.

We were notified today (4/26/2021) that another student has tested positive for COVID-19 and we will be working to establish potential additional students who will be placed in quarantine.

If your student shows any COVID-19 symptoms please notify the school and keep them home from school

Who needs to Quarantine:

People who have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19—excluding people who have had COVID-19 within the past 3 months or those who are fully vaccinated

Length of Quarantine:

Pottawattamie County Public Health makes the final decisions about how long quarantine should last. Options they will consider include stopping quarantine

  • After day 10 without testing

  • After day 7 after receiving a negative test result (test must occur on day 5 or later)

After stopping quarantine, you should

  • Watch for symptoms until 14 days after exposure.

  • If your students have symptoms, immediately self-isolate and contact the school.

  • Wear a mask, stay at least 6 feet from others, wash your hands, avoid crowds, and take other steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

CDC continues to recommend at least 6 feet of distance:

  • Between adults in the school building and between adults and students.

  • In common areas, such as school lobbies and auditoriums.

  • When masks can’t be worn, such as when eating.

  • During activities when increased exhalation occurs, such as singing, shouting, band practice, sports, or exercise. These activities should be moved outdoors or to large, well-ventilated spaces whenever possible.

  • In community settings outside of the classroom.

Vaccines are an important tool to help stop the COVID-19 pandemic.
