Parents can support consistent school attendance by understanding the cause of health-related absences, which can often be avoided.
Children may avoid school due to the symptoms of anxiety, which may include decreased appetite, feeling tired, stomachache, and headache.
If you are concerned your child is missing school due to anxiety, talk with a teacher, the school nurse, social worker, school counselor, or other school staff to discuss the challenge and identify possible solutions.
Check out more information at attendanceworks.org.
Learning happens when you're here!
