The Standard Response Protocol (SRP) provides a clear, shared approach to safety by focusing on actions rather than individual scenarios. It uses consistent vocabulary while allowing flexibility when responding to a situation. 🚨

The five SRP actions are:
➡️ Hold – In your room or area
➡️ Secure – Get inside. Lock outside doors
➡️ Lockdown – Locks, lights, out of sight
➡️ Evacuate – Move to a stated location
➡️ Shelter – State the hazard and safety strategy

These simple, specific actions keep communication clear and ensure everyone knows how to respond in any situation. 🌟

It’s almost game time, Bulldogs! Friday night is our first home football game, and we cannot wait to see our stands full of our fans. 🏈

All Riverside students get in free thanks to our generous community donors—just show your student ID at the gate!

A quick reminder for our students:
➡️ PreK-5th grade students should sit with parents in the stands
➡️ 6th & 7th grade students may sit in the student section if they follow expectations
➡️ No pickup football games or being under the bleachers/baseball fields during the game

Let’s pack the stands and cheer on our Bulldogs tomorrow night! 🎉

Chronic Absenteeism
August is National Truancy Prevention Month, and we want to emphasize how important good attendance is for student success! Here are some tips:

✅ Establish consistent bedtime and morning routines
✅ Prepare clothes and backpacks the night before
✅ Schedule appointments outside of school hours (when possible)
✅ Talk with your child about the importance of attendance

When students attend school regularly, they build strong relationships, stay on track academically, and feel more connected to their school community. If you need support, please contact your child's school office!

Attendance Matters
Empathy is the CKH Character Trait that we will focus on during the months of August and September with students during their weekly CKH lessons.

Why focus on Empathy?
Empathy builds positive classroom culture. Empathy empowers students to learn to understand each other to build trust and safety in the classroom.
Empathy strengthens communities. Empathy helps students strengthen their relationships with classmates, other students, and adults at school, and at home.
Empathy prepares your students to be leaders in their community. The best leaders understand the people they lead and are able to show they care.

8th Grade students have been working together to create their social contract this week, and they did such a great job! The goal of the social contract is to create an agreement of behavior that students and teachers work to uphold throughout the classroom. To create the social contract students discussed the following four questions: How do you want to be treated by me the teacher? How do you want to be treated by each other? How do you think the teachers wants to be treated by you? How do you want to treat each other when there is conflict?

We want to keep families informed about our attendance guidelines so you know what to expect if your child misses school.

Here is the process we follow per semester:
➡️ 3 days absent – Call from a teacher
➡️ 5 days absent – Call from a teacher and a letter home
➡️ 10% absent – Letter home and notification to the county attorney
➡️ 15% absent – Barriers to Attendance meeting
➡️ 20% absent – Notification to the county attorney and possible legal action

Regular attendance is important for student success! 🌟
